Spend according to the games you actually play.
The cheapest build is intentionally GPU-free and designed to grow. The dedicated-GPU example prioritises 1080p frame rates. The AM5 example moves to AM5, DDR5 and a 16GB graphics card for a longer useful life.
Starter APU build example
Best for Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, Minecraft, indie games, schoolwork and a buyer who plans to add a graphics card later.
| Part | Recommended model | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 5600G | Six CPU cores plus integrated Radeon graphics; a discrete GPU is not required on day one. |
| Motherboard | Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi 6 | AM4, DDR4, Wi-Fi and room to add a graphics card. Confirm the listing is the B550 Eagle WiFi 6 model. |
| Memory | Crucial Pro 32GB DDR4-3200 (2×16GB) | Dual-channel memory is especially important because the integrated graphics shares system RAM. |
| Storage | WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB NVMe | Enough room for Windows and a useful game library without starting on a hard drive. |
| Power | MSI MAG A550BN 550W | A practical 80 Plus Bronze unit with capacity for a sensible future midrange GPU. |
| Case | Airflow-focused ATX case | Choose a case with a mesh front, at least two fans and support for a full-size ATX motherboard. |
Excellent everyday responsiveness and playable esports/indie gaming at adjusted 1080p settings. It is not intended for demanding new games at high settings.
Add a dedicated graphics card. Connect the monitor to the new GPU—not the motherboard—after installation.
The motherboard must support the Ryzen 5 5600G BIOS. Use the board’s display output until a dedicated GPU is installed.
Choose a basic airflow case. Do not cut memory to one stick; dual-channel operation matters to integrated graphics.
1080p build example
Best for buyers who want strong 1080p gaming now and do not need to pay the platform premium for AM5 and DDR5.
| Part | Recommended model | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 | Six Zen 3 cores, 12 threads and an included Wraith Stealth cooler. A discrete GPU is required. |
| Graphics | XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7600 8GB | The performance priority in this tier: built for strong 1080p gaming with sensible settings at 1440p. |
| Motherboard | Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi 6 | Matches the AM4 processor and DDR4 memory while adding Wi-Fi and two M.2 slots. |
| Memory | Crucial Pro 32GB DDR4-3200 (2×16GB) | Comfortable capacity for games, Discord, browser tabs and daily multitasking. |
| Storage | WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB NVMe | Fast primary storage with enough initial capacity for several large games. |
| Power | MSI MAG A550BN 550W | A straightforward power match for this class of CPU and GPU; confirm all required connectors. |
| Case | Airflow-focused ATX case | Confirm support for the ATX motherboard and the RX 7600 card length before ordering. |
Strong 1080p gaming at high settings in many titles. 1440p is possible with adjusted settings and upscaling, but this is primarily a 1080p build.
Replace the graphics card when game performance no longer meets your target. The Ryzen 5 5600 remains useful for many midrange pairings.
The Ryzen 5 5600 has no integrated graphics. Install the RX 7600 and connect the display cable directly to it.
Skip decorative liquid cooling. The included CPU cooler is adequate at stock operation when the case has reasonable airflow.
AM5 1440p build example
Best for buyers who want a modern AM5 foundation, 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 16GB graphics card suited to a stronger 1440p experience.
| Part | Recommended model | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 7600 | Six Zen 4 cores, AM5, DDR5 support and an included Wraith Stealth cooler. |
| Graphics | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Ti WINDFORCE OC 16GB | The 16GB model provides more video-memory headroom than an 8GB alternative for demanding textures and future games. |
| Motherboard | MSI PRO B650M-A WiFi | AM5, DDR5, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5Gbps LAN and a microATX size that fits many cases. |
| Memory | TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 | A two-stick 32GB kit with AMD EXPO support and an appropriate speed target for an AM5 gaming build. |
| Storage | WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB NVMe | Fast PCIe 4.0 primary storage; add a second drive later if the game library outgrows 1TB. |
| Power | 650W-class PSU — exact model required | Select an exact model with independent electrical testing, adequate protections, warranty and the required GPU connectors. An efficiency badge alone is not a quality or safety assessment. |
| Case | Airflow-focused mATX or ATX case | Confirm microATX board support, GPU clearance and at least two included fans. |
A balanced 1440p build for high settings in many games, with access to NVIDIA features such as DLSS. Actual frame rates vary by title and settings.
Add storage when needed. The AM5 platform also leaves a clearer future CPU-upgrade path than the older AM4 builds.
This build requires an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory. DDR4 cannot be installed in the B650 board.
Set your own maximum total first. Compare a complete basket with an equivalent prebuilt; do not assume this example fits a particular budget.
Five checks prevent most expensive mistakes.
Which build should you buy?
- Choose the APU example if you mainly play lighter games and want to add a GPU later.
- Choose the 1080p example if the priority is strong 1080p gaming for the least platform cost.
- Choose the AM5 example if you want 1440p capability, 16GB of video memory and a modern AM5 upgrade path.
- Do not build yet if the complete basket exceeds the target by enough to make a well-priced prebuilt computer the better value.
